How long is the Annapurna Base Camp Trek?
Typically, the trek takes 7–11 days, depending on the route and pace. From Kathmandu you need to travel to Pokhara city ( 200km west) either by road (7 hours) or flight (25minutes). Then, drive 1.5 hours to Nayapul to start trek to ABC including Poon HIll. Optionally, drive 4 hours to JhinuDanda and complete ABC trek in 7 days.

Annapurna Base Camp sits at 4,130 meters (13,550 ft).

Is this trek suitable for beginners?
Yes. It’s one of Nepal’s most beginner-friendly high-altitude treks. If you are trekking first time in Nepal, this is an ideal route.

Do I need a guide or can I go solo?
As of April 2023, a licensed guide is mandatory for all trekkers in Nepal. However, some trekkers still would insist to go solo.

When is the best time to do the ABC trek?
Spring (Mar–May) and Autumn (Sep–Nov) offer the best views and weather.

Is altitude sickness common?
It’s less common than in EBC but still possible. Acclimatize and ascend slowly. Acetazolamide (Diomox0 is also a very common medication to take during trek to avoid the altitude sickness symptoms.

What type of accommodation is available?
You’ll stay in teahouses/lodges with basic facilities and shared bathrooms. Hot shower might cost extra charge.

Yes. You’ll find dal bhat, noodles, soups, omelets, pancakes, and more.

Expect to pay around $500–$1,000 USD for a full package depending on length and services.

What should I pack?
warm Layers ( thermal, fleece, t-shirts), down jacket, trekking boots with warm socks, sleeping bag, rain gear, sunscreen, and a reusable water bottle preferably with filter, some basic medications, trekking poles. Most of them can purchased or hired in Kathmandu if you have a day or two extra days prior to starting trek.

Yes, you can combine it with Poon Hill, Mardi Himal, or Annapurna Circuit.

Yes. It should include coverage for altitude trekking and emergency evacuation.

Temperatures can drop to -5°C to -10°C at night near base camp.
